During the Gators’ victory over the LSU Tigers this past weekend, Steve Spurrier was extremely impressed with Florida quarterback DJ Lagway. At Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Lagway assisted in leading Florida to an 11-point victory, the Gators’ fifth victory of the year. He passed for 226 yards and a score in the victory, primarily using his arm rather than his legs.
Spurrier later waxed poetic about Lagway’s skill and his capacity to inspire a group of people. With their new signal-caller at the forefront, he thinks the Gators’ options are endless.
After the game, Lagway remarked, “That means a lot, man, you know, just being the second year in the offense, you know, is huge.” “You know, just having the guys around it support that and genuinely believe that we can change this.” And that’s the general feeling in the locker room: we’re going to transform this space and restore it to its former glory.
“I think that was really important from a recruiting perspective as well. I had a lot of guys approach me after they saw that, texting me to try to find out what was going on, but it’s fantastic, you know.
In Week 13, DJ Lagway and the Gators will host Ole Miss, as Steve Spurrier hinted. Florida will undoubtedly demonstrate that they have improved under Billy Napier if they defeat the Rebels.
