Leicester City have three deals in the works with Ben Nelson, Tom Cannon, and Wanya Marcal all heading for loan moves.

With around eight hours to go in the transfer window, Nelson and Cannon both look set to get the Championship switches they’ve long been linked to. The duo have been targeted by nearly half of the division this window, and they’ve now selected their destinations.

Centre-back Nelson is on course to join Championship new boys Oxford on loan. While there were bigger clubs interested in the 20-year-old defender, he feels he’s got a better guarantee of game-time with the U’s as he looks to continue his development ahead of a push for a first-team spot at City from next season.

Although City are unlikely to bring in a striker, they are sanctioning Cannon’s exit. While it seemed a permanent move was possible, it now looks like the Republic of Ireland international will only leave on loan, and Stoke is his destination.

The 21-year-old has had plenty of suitors around the Championship but he’s now arrived at Stoke for a medical with the Potters his and City’s choice. It should hopefully be the right choice for Cannon, who is expected to be their lead striker.

Meanwhile, Marcal is going out for his first proper taste of senior football. The winger, who has made nine senior City appearances in his career, is understood to be joining De Graafschap in the Dutch second tier.
