The New York Jets face the San Francisco 49ers on the road on Monday Night Football to open their 2024 campaign. Both the Jets and the 49ers have released their final injury reports for the game.

For the Jets, backup interior offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer has a hand injury that will keep him out of the game on Monday and will likely land Schweitzer on injured reserve. In addition, backup linebacker Zaire Barnes has an ankle injury that will keep him out of the game. No other Jets players are listed on the final injury report. Receiver Mike Williams will be on a “pitch count” due to his ongoing recovery from ACL surgery, and pass rusher Haason Reddick will be out due to his ongoing holdout.

For the 49ers, rotational pass rusher Yetur Gross-Matos and backup linebacker Dee Winters are both out for the game with leg injuries. In addition, 2022 All Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga is listed as doubtful with a knee injury and he is not expected to play. All Pro running back Christian McCaffrey is listed as questionable with a calf/achilles injury. McCaffrey says he expects to play, though the 49ers may have him on a “pitch count,” with backup Jordan Mason filling in more than usual.

The 49ers were listed as 4.5 point favorites earlier in the week, according to our friends at FanDuel Sportsbook. That line has decreased to 3.5 points as of the time of publication. The line may have shifted in response to the uncertainty as to McCaffrey’s status, as well as the likelihood Hufanga will not play. Together with the conditioning issues holdouts receiver Brandon Aiyuk and offensive tackle Trent Williams are likely to face, having missed all of training camp, this game presents opportunities for the Jets to exploit. We’ll see if the Jets are up to the task against an outstanding 49ers team.
