Today Ipswich Town will go against the Bristol Rovers in the third round of the FA Cup knockouts.
The game will start at 3:00 pm at Portman Road with Ipswich looking to keep their winning streak against the Pirates.
Previously Bristol Rovers have lost 12 of their last 13 away games against Ipswich Town in all competitions (W1), with their sole victory in December 2019 in League One (2-1).
Ipswich Town have also progressed from each of their prior four FA Cup ties against Bristol Rovers with the latest seeing the Tractor Boys win 1-0 during a third round replay in 1998.
But the Bristol Rovers will be looking to reach the FA Cup fourth round for the first time since 2007-08, going out at this stage of the competition six times since then.
Greatest Hits Radio spoke to lifelong Ipswich Town fan and host of the Youtube channel ‘The Suffolk Crunch’ Rich Moss.
He told us he thinks it will be a “changed 11” for town this match.
“I think Kieran McKenna will look to change the whole 11. I wouldn’t be starting any players on Sunday who will be playing against Brighton next Thursday in the league. ”
Rich also shared his thoughts with us on newly transferred from Sunderland Jack Clarke.
“We all know that Jack Clarke is a good player, for some players it just takes them more time to settle to the area. He’s got to learn a new position, so I think he’s going to be the man who will start. I’d like to see him get his first goal.
“…I am expecting him to hopefully have an impact. It’s a chance for him to get some minutes and show McKenna what a good player he is.”
We also asked Rich what his score predictions are for The Tractor Boys Vs The Pirates.
“3-0 victory for Town and into the next round of the FA Cup, but it’s not the be-all or end-all this season.”
Town boss Kieran McKenna hopes new signing Ben Godfrey will make a significant contribution after signing on loan.
The defender became the first addition of the January transfer window after joining from Italian club Atalanta until the end of the season.
“That’s a positive for us and it was an area we wanted to add to given Axel has missed such a big part of the season,” Kieran said, following Ben’s arrival.
“We don’t really have the same profile in the squad and Ben fits that and is a good, experienced player.
“He has played a good amount of Premier League football and is really hungry to come in here and help the group and be an important part of the team.
“We’re happy to have him in and he will make us stronger for the second half of the year.”
