Troy Aikman, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and Dallas Cowboys legend, kept it an absolute bean about his former team — more specifically, their wide receiving corps — while speaking in a radio interview Thursday.
In their Week 6 contest, Dallas suffered a massive 47-9 blowout defeat against the Detroit Lions, not even scoring a single touchdown. Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb managed to scrape up 89 yards off seven catches, but throughout the entire season, Dallas receivers have failed to eclipse 100 yards in a game. Aikman talked about it on 96.7 The Ticket in Dallas, and he didn’t hold back whatsoever.
“I think they run terrible routes,” stated Aikman. “And I’ve thought that beyond this year. I think CeeDee has got to improve in his route running. As a quarterback, if you’re not certain where guys are going to be consistently, it’s hard to play the position. That’s what I see.”
“I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run, usually if they do, it’s because they’re anticipating they’re going to get the football on that play, but if they’re not, they don’t. And it all ties together. I’m not impressed with that part of it.”
