Georgia football reigns supreme in the SEC. Last Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs extended their win streak to four games, beating the Texas Longhorns in a 22-19 overtime thriller at the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. This year, Georgia lost two regular season games for the first time since 2020 but clawed their way back to the SEC title tilt, earning their third College Football Playoff berth in four seasons. However, despite the Bulldogs’ success, in the era of player empowerment and NIL, not even Kirby Smart’s team could avoid the transfer portal.
Amid punching their ticket to a fourth College Football Playoff, Georgia has had a quartet of players enter the transfer portal, or at least they had. On Tuesday, following sharing his intentions to enter the transfer portal on Monday, freshman wideout Nitro Tuggle opted to stay with the program. With Tuggle, a former four-star recruit who earned partial playing time as a true freshman, deciding to rescind his transfer request, Georgia football fans flooded social media excitedly.

NEWS: Georgia WR Nitro Tuggle, who announced he was entering the transfer portal yesterday, has changed his mind and will now stay in Athens
Although Georgia football will play for a national title in 2024, they are not invulnerable to the transfer portal. As of Tuesday, wide receiver Michael Jackson III, cornerback Julian Humphrey, and safety David Daniel-Sisavanh will dart for the transfer portal. However, pass-catcher Nitro Tuggle, initially destined for the transfer portal on Monday, will not join them. On Tuesday, Tuggle posted on Twitter through his account, declaring his intent to stay with the program.
Tuggle, a four-star recruit in the class of 2024, held offers from Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Penn State, Ole Miss, and LSU, among others, before landing with Georgia football this fall. Tuggle played sparingly, recording three catches for 34 yards across seven games. However, he did record two catches for 25 yards in a win over Tennessee late in the season. With Tuggle expected to take a significant step forward next season, fans took to social media to celebrate his return:
