Cardinals Wait To See On Darius Robinson Status

The Cardinals selected Darius Robinson in the first round, and he proved it at training camp. He performed admirably in his ten snaps during the preseason opener, but coach Jonathan Gannon benched him against the Colts last week, and it seemed doubtful that he would play in Sunday’s preseason finale. His techniques stayed top-notch. However, Robinson injured his calf during practice on Thursday, and head coach Jonathan Gannon stated that imaging will be performed on Friday to ascertain the degree of any injury.

BJ Ojulari, an outside linebacker with the Cardinals, suffered a knee injury during a training camp session that has already cost him the season. On the defensive line, the Cardinals are well-stocked. They still have holdovers Roy Lopez, Dante Stills, and L.J. Collier in addition to free-agent signees Justin Jones, Bilal Nichols, and Khyiris Tonga. In his rookie NFL season, Robinson is a player who is expected to have a significant impact.

“The guy is crazy,” Collier remarked about Robinson. Collier continued, “It seems like the kid is going to ball this year.” “Arguably might be Defensive Rookie of the Year if he stays on the track that I think he’s going to be on.” If Robinson requires more time to heal, the season’s revisions to the Injured Reserve rule may be helpful. A player had to be on a team’s original 53-man roster and hold a slot before a team could move him to IR in the past if he wanted to return during the season but needed to go on injured reserve. At the final cutdown, a team may now place up to two players on injured reserve (IR) and still be able to activate them later in the regular season.
