Arsenal legend Thierry Henry aims hilarious title jibe at Tottenham ahead of North London Derby

Arsenal will take on Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League clash on Sunday.

In his playing days at Arsenal, Thierry Henry regularly terrorised Spurs.

The Gunners’ all-time leading scorer found the back of the net in North London derbies frequently, and it would seem that those are amongst some of his favourites strikes.

In 2002, Henry scored against Spurs after a magnificent solo run that saw him glide past a number of players before the Frenchman slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

In a recent interview shared on the official Premier League YouTube channel. Henry recalled this goal.

The Arsenal legend also could not resist poking fun at Spurs. As he reminisced about his famous goal, he added: “We were going for the title and staying unbeaten. Something that they don’t know about, by the way, Spurs.”

Indeed, whilst Arsenal have not been crowned champions since 2004, Tottenham have not claimed a league title since 1961.

Henry remains supportive of Arsenal, and he reminded everyone where his loyalties lie with this quip. He will be backing Mikel Arteta’s side to claim another famous victory over their North London neighbours this weekend.

Henry’s former teammate Martin Keown also believes Arsenal can beat Spurs on Sunday. However, Arteta does face some major challenges heading into this fixture.

Mikel Arteta must adapt for North London Derby

The Gunners will be missing a number of important players when they take to the field this weekend.

Declan Rice is suspended as he was sent off against Brighton last time out, and on top of that, Arsenal are now enduring something of an injury crisis.

Martin Odegaard was pictured on crutches after sustaining an ankle injury whilst playing for Norway. Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori also limped off during the international break.

Mikel Merino is still out of action, since damaging his shoulder in his first training session as an Arsenal player. What’s more, Gabriel Jesus is still fighting to get back to full fitness.

As such, Arteta will have some tricky decisions to make when it comes to picking his team for derby day. The strongest XI Arsenal can put out against Spurs still contains some notable weak points. As such, the Gunners will have to dig particularly deep if they are to come away from this match with a positive result.
