Arsenal fans have a lot to say about Martin Odegaard after Brighton draw, they aren’t happy at all

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Whilst Arsenal had the better of the first half, and led thanks to Kai Havertz’s smart finish, the sending off of Declan Rice after the break derailed the Gunners.

Chris Kavanagh’s decision to show the England midfielder a second yellow card for nudging the ball away after the Seagulls were awarded a free kick has proved controversial.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side might still have found a way to win the game had they been more clinical in the final third. In this regard, Martin Odegaard was far below his own usual standard.

The Arsenal captain’s decision-making and final ball was poor throughout the match.

Arsenal fans criticise Martin Odegaard after Brighton

Many Arsenal fans on X were disappointed by the Norwegian playmaker’s performance against Brighton.

One said: “This season exactly the same as last. Midfield dynamics all over the place. Odegaard starting very slow, injuries to new signings and a very poor result at home. It’s very annoying.”

Another stated: “Odegaard was poor yesterday and am sure he knows that.”

One supporter claimed: “There’s people who actually compare him to Ozil. The gap between them is huge, odegaard doesn’t come close.”

Another added: “You should remember this Odegaard performances in when you vote for him as our POTY in May.”

Big pressure on Odegaard at Arsenal

There is huge pressure on Odegaard to deliver for the Gunners. He is Arteta’s captain, and key creative force, who also takes responsibility for leading and orchestrating the press when his side are not in possession.

Ally McCoist has tipped Odegaard to win the player of the season award this time around, which gives some indication of how much is expected of him.

However, he cannot be expected to make the difference in every single game. On top of that, though, he is yet to register a goal or an assist this season, and will want to get up and running in that regard as soon as possible.
