Osman Foyo signs a permanent contract with AFC Wimbledon, joining Ipswich Town

Following a good loan stint with Chelmsford City in the first part of this season, the 20-year-old forward recently made his way back to Portman Road

He scored 13 goals for the National League South team in all competitions.

Although he played for Kieran McKenna’s team during preseason, Foyo, who joined the Blues from Norwich City in January 2023, never made a senior game for Town.

He now joins Johnnie Jackson’s side, who sit sixth in table, two points of the automatic promotions spots in the fourth tier. The Dons beat Town on penalties in the Carabao Cup back in August.

On signing for the South West London club, he said: “It’s a real pleasure to be here.

“I’ve been waiting weeks to get this done and I feel this is a place where I can really kickstart my career. I can’t wait to get out, score goals and make our fans happy. I’m powerful, quick and strong – I’ll use my qualities to help me get in the team and stay there.”

His new manager said: “Osman is a player that we’ve been monitoring closely for quite a while. We’re one of a number of clubs who were after him, so to beat off strong sides is huge for us.

“He’s played men’s football last season and this season and has really excelled.

He’s caught the eye at Chelmsford, he’s big, he’s powerful, can play wide, can play centrally – he’s got all the attributes for his game to flourish here at Wimbledon as other forward players have done in recent years.”

For the 2024–2025 campaign, Foyo will team up with former Town forward Joe Pigott, who is currently on loan from Leyton Orient.
