Arsenal have held interest several attacking players over the last year, but they are now looking at their most ambitious target yet.
Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal is still just 17 years old, but he is already one of the world’s best attacking players.
Yamal burst onto the scene in La Liga last year, and quickly earned a place in the Spanish National Team, and an outstanding campaign at Euro 2024 saw him help his side win the tournament.
Attempting to sign Yamal from Barcelona seems an impossible task, with the teenager widely regarded as their best young talent since Lionel Messi, but it has now been reported that Arsenal may eventually try to pull it off, with Mikel Arteta clearly a huge fan of the player.

Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal
It has now been reported by The Independent journalist Miguel Delaney that both Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in Yamal, and Barcelona’s financial difficulties may eventually make a deal possible.
“For now, rivals are again eyeing their brilliant youth products such as Gavi, Pedri and – of course – Lamine Yamal,” it is reported.
“Arsenal and Liverpool would greatly fancy the latter, improbable as it seems right now. They will need to sell. The CAS case illustrated there are no real creative options left.”
Barcelona have encountered severe financial difficulties in recent years which has seen them manoeuvre different monetary levers within the club, but it appears that they will eventually have to resort to sales.
How much would Lamine Yamal cost Arsenal?
Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently claimed that he rejected a bid of around £208m for Yamal from Paris Saint-Germain, which would have been a world-record fee.
If Barcelona are eventually forced into a sale of Yamal, a similar fee can be expected, which may put Arsenal off.
Arsenal’s star player Bukayo Saka plays in the same position as Yamal, on the right wing, and unless one of them is prepared to move to the other wing, it seems unlikely that they will sanction such a huge outlay on one player, no matter how talented Yamal is.
