We’re heading into Week 8, which makes this an ideal opportunity to throw out our preseason lists and reevaluate the best in the sport. Ollie Gordon? He’s been a huge disappointment. Ashton Jeanty? He might win the Heisman Trophy. There are examples like that at every position.
To take stock of the best players in college football and have a little fun, a few 247Sports experts got together to draft the best players in college football from one to 32.
There’s a bit of a twist: Every drafter is responsible for putting together the best team they can with these slots:
One quarterback
Two skill players
Two offensive linemen
One defensive lineman
One linebacker
One defensive back.
The draft is based on college production and performance, not raw skill, so this is not an NFL mock draft because of that, and positional value does not matter. We’re not building literal teams. We’re just picking the best player available. You’ll be surprised where the quarterbacks go in this draft, perhaps reflecting the lack of a no-doubt QB contender in this year’s Heisman race.
