NY Jets: Aaron Rodgers implies bigger receiving role for Breece Hall

Breece Hall was arguably the brightest spot for the 2024 New York Jets. Despite coming off a major injury, Breece Hall was not just a good running back, but a great enough one that he was ranked as the #2 running back in the league by NFL personnel via ESPN.

To that point, Hall would be a great running back for the New York Jets to have if he simply maintained his 2023 performance. However, one always hopes that players improve their outputs. One way in which that may happen for Hall is via catching more touchdowns, as he only caught 4 last season despite leading runningbacks in catches with 76.

For those hoping to see an improvement in that area, quarterback Aaron Rodgers just gave some reason to think that the current offensive scheme may be designed to allow that to happen.

As stated by Rodgers, there are passing plays in the Jets red zone playbook where Hall is the primary read, implying that offensive coordinator Nate Hackett has plans to scheme the ball to Hall on plays that are intended to lead to a touchdown.

If the Jets and Hall can deliver an uptick in his touchdown receptions, then it’s entirely within the realm of possibility that Hall is considered the NFL’s best running back by season’s end.
